It’s A Small Scene, After All
Nick Depirro, Aric Improta, Reilly Herrera - formerly of The Sound Archives - began to gain attention last May when this demo was posted. It features Tilian Pearson on vocals. Tilian, of Tides of Man fame, personally made a splash around that time because a completely different demo was leaked- a Saosin song with Tilian’s singing.
“01 Promises” by SAOSIN
As it sits now, I am committed to doing an album with Saosin, and I will fulfill that obligation… I also think I have some sort of contractual obligation with Rise Records. I had previously planned to do a solo album with them. I have a good amount of material written for it, but I have doubts about Rise’s confidence that it will sell a lot of copies right now. -Tilian Pearson
The two Tides of Man albums were absolutely incredible. Empire Theory (2009) and Dreamhouse (2010). Just scope out their music video for “Not My Love 2” (below):
It appears Tides of Man had sort of a fairy-tale story. The Tampa, Florida band self-funded the recording of their debut album. Tides of Man hadn’t even played 15 shows yet, but were picked up by Rise Records a few months later.
REAX: Is this your first tour with a band as big as The Sleeping? How did it all happen?
Pearson: We did a Johnny Craig tour in March and the opening act on it was rapper Mod Sun (Derek Smith) the drummer for Scary Kids Scaring Kids. He took us out with the bassist from The Sleeping and we all just became friends from there. Then they asked us to be on this tour. It’s awesome.
>REAX Music Interview: Tides of Man (posted November 13, 2010)
Unfortunately, The Sleeping announced an “indefinite hiatus” last week. This doesn’t come as a complete shock to me, because their gorgeous 2010 release, The Big Deep, met an intensely underwhelming response… and I’ve been hearing about how successful the bassist’s vegan restaurant/bar has become. While I’m not shocked, I’m greatly saddened with the world for not appreciating the beauty of The Sleeping’s discography. They emerged from a scene that gave birth to Glassjaw, Brand New, The Movielife, Taking Back Sunday, Crime In Stereo, Billy Joel, Envy on the Coast, Bayside, Busta Rhymes, Dream Theater… and crafted a truly unique sound that remained evident throughout all 4 of their full-length releases. Not many bands can mature musically while simultaneously retaining “their sound,” but The Sleeping did.
Funny thing is… It was also announced last week that Douglas Robinson, lead singer of The Sleeping and bartender at aforementioned bar, has joined Archives… and that the band has been renamed: The Night.
Robinson: Tillian is a good friend. The Sleeping toured with Tides of Man and they are all incredibly good people. As for Tillian’s demos, believe it or not, I had previously worked with the band before Tillian came into the picture. It was when I had moved back to NY that they started working with Tillian. Tillian has a great voice but him and I are completely different singers and I had already had my own take on how I wanted to progress with these tracks compared to the way I was previously writing for them.
>Mind Equals Blown Interview: The Night (posted January 3, 2012)
I’m greatly looking forward to hearing The Night. Expect to see more from them on Neeshland, when there’s music and tour dates.
How did Tilian Pearson lend his voice to The Sound Archives/Archives/The Night and also Saosin - when he was the vocalist and rhythm guitarist for Tides of Man?
December 20th, 2010 ToM posted a blog on MySpace:
Tides Of Man has parted ways with our singer Tilian.
He has a thing in another band that he is pursuing, and we wish him luck.
We have been Tides Of Man now for exactly three years! We have had a lot of amazing experiences and love from our fans. We put out two albums we are very proud of and have traveled the U.S. many times over the past year and met tons of amazing people along the way. The joy it gives us is beyond anything, and we (Spencer, Alan and Josh) have no intentions of stopping now. We WILL continue making music for you and more people to come.
Our studio is now set up so that we can start writing, practicing and making new music (yes we will most likely play old stuff too at shows).
With that said, we are now in the market for a new singer. If you would like to try out for this, or want to help, you can email us at tidesofman@gmail.com with anything (youtube videos, demos, information, and any other material).
Some basic guidelines for what we are looking for are:
-Lives or can live in Florida near us
-Can sing our old songs as well as write new songs/lyrics
-Knows some music theory
-Preferably plays another instrument well (keys, guitar)
-Dedicated and loyal
-Drug-free
-Has a stylish, and clean appearanceThank for all the support you give us. We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for that!
We didn’t hear from Tilian Pearson until February 2011, when he filled in for Jonny Craig live with Emarosa immediately following The Great MacBook scandal.
It was widely rumored that Tilian Pearson would be taking Jonny Craig’s place in Emarosa, but an April 2011 interview suggested otherwise:
We’re not looking for Jonny Craig 2.0. We just want to find someone who can bring something unique to the band.
-Jordan Stewart (Emarosa Keyboards)
>Alternative Press: Emarosa open up about firing Jonny CraigTides of Man are still looking for a new vocalist and have been posting what they’re working on. Latest tracks by TidesofMan
As per Tilian and Saosin, it’s looking as if he is just recording with them and is not a full-time member of the band. >Alter The Press!: Tilian Pearson Comments on Tides of Man Departure and Interest in Joining Saosin
Past Saosin vocalists have included co-founder, Anthony Green, who went on to form Circa Survive after becoming disenchanted with the band’s musical direction and exclusion of him from the writing process; and Cove Reber. Concerning Cove’s recent firing, guitarist Justin Shekoski stated: ”his stage performance and vocal performances were on a downward spiral,” according to Linescratchers.
Saosin with Anthony Green - “Seven Years” (music video)
Saosin with Cove Reber - “Voices” (music video)Since departing from Saosin, Anthony Green has made many guest appearances (with the likes of: A Life Once Lost, Fear Before the March of Flames, Like Lions, The Receiving End of Sirens, Envy on the Coast, The Spill Canvas, Say Anything, Good Old War, Psychic Babble, and Mindy White). He also put out 3 releases with the supergroup- The Sound of Animals Fighting (which also featured members from Rx Bandits, Finch, Days Away, Good Old War, Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows, and The Autumns). Circa Survive have thus far released 3 full-length albums and are currently signed to Atlantic Records. In 2008, Anthony Green released his debut solo album, Avalon- and on January 17th, 2012 he will be releasing his sophomore solo record, Beautiful Things. The new album is streaming in full on Anthony Green’s official website.
Anthony Green has been releasing bonus songs from the forthcoming album:
- “Right Outside” – featuring Chino Moreno of Deftones
- “Only Love” – featuring Nate Ruess of .fun
- “Soul for My Soul” featuring Circa Survive bandmate, Colin Frangicetto
- “Can’t Be Satisfied” – featuring Ida Maria
Tilian Pearson… he has posted a few demos from his aforementioned solo album:
Favor The Gods Demo
Clarity DemoNo word on a release yet.
I’ll leave you guys with a killer song from The Sound Archives and The Night’s instrumental demos (imagine Douglas singing on them!)

A while ago in my AP Chemistry class, this one annoying kid and my friend were having a weird argument about who was better. The annoying kid said, “Well, at least I have a girlfriend!” to which I responded, “Whatever. Your girlfriend has 67 protons.” In response, the entire class, including the teacher, turned their heads to look at the periodic table on the wall. The element with 67 protons is holmium, with the chemical symbol “Ho.” My teacher was the first to laugh.

Dude,

srsly.
Fuck
Need this on my blog.
This..omg.

Fucking WIN.
that- So smart.
Oh my god, can I marry this person?
I can’t because polygamy isn’t legal in Australia?
Oh well. Still awesome.

SO MUCH WIN

COHEED AND CAMBRIA REUNITE WITH DRUMMER JOSH EPPARD
ENTER STUDIO TO RECORD SIXTH ALBUM
November 16, 2011.
Hello everybody,
We didn’t originally plan to make a big splash about this, but when Chris made his announcement, we were ultimately compelled to. We didn’t want anyone to be concerned about the state of the band, and trying to keep things quiet was proving to be really tough. And besides, we’re just really excited and wanted to share that feeling with you.
Chris Pennie is a dear friend, a superb band-mate and one of the best drummers in the world. He brought a workmanship and sense of professionalism to Coheed that completely improved us as a band, and allowed us to reach new heights. He will always be a member of the Coheed family, and we ask you to support all his endeavors.
As the songs for the new record began twisting into shape, it slowly became apparent that these songs were very dynamic, and could truly flourish with the groove-oriented approach that Josh naturally brings to the table. We also missed Josh as a person -what he meant to us as friends and the energy and humor he exudes. But this isn’t about nostalgia; it’s about who we are now, and what we can achieve musically and as a family, together going forward.
We understand there are risks involved bringing Josh back into the fray. Even with his two-years of sobriety, this is a giant leap of faith on our part. But at the end of the day, we have all grown up, and we have all been through so much, that playing with Josh again is sort of like coming home. It’s comfortable, it’s familiar, it just feels right… it’s hand in glove.
Last week, we entered Applehead Studios with Michael Birnbaum and Chris Bittner to begin work on our sixth studio album. We’re three songs in, can’t wait to share it.
Thank you for your continued, unwavering support.

Neeshland: Coheed and Cambria 11.11.11
Is it just me or are the text and teaser seeming to hint to Josh returning?
You mean this whole thing?
ooo cryptic!
I came across this graphic on facebook

The screenshot on the right is from this.
It’s so much fun to guess and wonder and wish!
If that video…
I don’t usually reblog, but when I do, its quality.
